SCHOOL INFORMATION

Pioneer Academy is the CCSD school for students to consider if they prefer smaller class sizes, a smaller campus environment, a flexible classroom and or online hybrid schedule, and the other unique options listed below. Students can earn a minimum of 8 credits per year in the 4 classes per day and 90 minute class block schedule.

PHS is pleased to offer CCSD students with Project Lead the Way Engineering Levels I and II.  Dual high school and college credits can be earned for free at Pioneer in cooperation with WNC and ASU.  Students also have free access to JumpStart dual credit courses.

PHS offers students outdoor sporting activities in cooperation with the Project Discovery Partnership.  Sports include cross country skiing, downhill skiing, rock climbing, ropes challenge courses, the Rock Creek expedition, yoga, volleyball, and other field trips throughout the school year.

Some of the PHS elective classes consist of:  art, graphic arts, yearbook/media, web-design, and dozens of additional online electives.

The Jobs for Nevada's Graduates (J4NG) program offers 9th-12th grade students the chance to work with internships, refine their resume skills, and work in job shadowing positions in careers they have shown interest.

PHS offers a high school Standard Diploma, Advanced Diploma, CTE, and an Adult Diploma option.

Pioneer is a great place to work and get a top notch education provided by our highly qualified and talented staff.

PHS STAFF

Pioneer Academy has the most talented and caring group of staff I have ever had the honor to work with during the last 26 years of being an educator. I deeply appreciate their dedication to our students, ability to adapt, the high level of professionalism they model, and how they show leadership in our school district and the Carson City community. I continue to learn from them every day and have a great deal of respect for our team.   -Jason Zona, Principal
