More than 70 Carson High School (CHS) seniors were recognized Thursday night for collectively earning more than $10 million in local, national and college scholarships (a number that will continue to rise). Their accomplishments, which highlighted the academic success of the Class of 2024, were celebrated in an awards ceremony Thursday, May 23, at the Carson City Community Center.

Fourth grade students in Ms. Allie Davis’ class at Bordewich Bray Elementary School received a special treat yesterday as actor Khleo Thomas, famously known for his role as Zero in the beloved film "Holes," made a guest appearance via Zoom. The virtual visit was a highlight for the students, who recently completed a comprehensive book study of Louis Sachar's "Holes" and followed it up by watching the acclaimed movie adaptation.

Reflecting on a year of achievement with Capitol FFA at 2024 state convention

This year 17 students attended the State FFA Convention and participated in seven different contests. One of Carson High School's own students, Melanie Burrett, was elected the 2024-25 Nevada State Reporter. Meanwhile, Maximillian Bushey was placed on one the Nom Com team for the State Office during the convention.

Character, gratitude, kindness, grit, determination and persistence aren’t qualities that are captured in Pioneer Academy’s four-point school grading scale, but if they were, the May Pioneer Academy Senior in the Spotlight would definitely be a 4.0. When teachers and staff nominated senior Dakota Cramer, these were a few of the many characteristics that flowed from their descriptions of her. So, it is a pleasure to honor her with this recognition.

The Carson City Library’s Pedal Library will be busy delivering books to students attending summer school. Now through the end of June, the teardrop trailer pulled behind a bike will provide up to 60 pounds of books at each elementary school within the Carson City School District. The mobile library will be offering mobile wifi and charging station soon.
