Carson High School (CHS) crowned Anna Turner and Lucas Wold as the 2023 Homecoming Queen and King. A short coronation ceremony was held on the football field during halftime of Friday’s matchup against the Wooster Colts. Additionally, prior to the start of the game, CHS honored the 2023 Football Hall of Fame inductees.

The school hosted a Homecoming Parade before the game were all the candidates were recognized and all student athletes from CHS’s fall sports were honored. Candidates making up the King’s Homecoming Court included (alphabetically by last name) Christian Galvez Hernandez, Dom Gambol, Todd Gosselin, Isaiah Hurlbert, Zach Laaker and Lucas Wold. Candidates making up the Queen’s Homecoming Court included (alphabetically by last name) Misha Fajayan, Arene LeBlanc, Ashley Ortiz-Rodriguez, Bridgette Paz, Ziah Rizo and Anna Turner.

The CHS student body voted for the winners after the homecoming court was announced at the Homecoming Assembly last Friday, Sept. 22. Anna was escorted and honored by her parents Heather and Charles Turner while Lucas was escorted by his mother Trisha Wold, a second grade teacher at Mark Twain Elementary School.

Anna’s coronation scores a generational trifecta as her mother, Heather (Ligtenberg) Turner, was honored as Carson High’s 1991 Homecoming Queen and her grandmother, Joanne (Iest) Ligtenberg, was honored as Chino High School’s 1961 Homecoming Queen. Ranked third in her class, with a 5.1 weighted GPA, Anna has never received lower than an A throughout her high school career. She is a four-year varsity athlete in Volleyball and a three-year varsity swimmer. After high school, she plans to major in biochemical engineering.

Lucas is a two-sport athlete, playing on the varsity football team as a captain as well as his favorite sport wrestling. Wold is an accomplished wrestler, having taken second at state, as well as being one of the captains for the team. After high school, he plans to wrestle in college and looks to major in either Firefighting or physical therapy.

Prior to the start of the football game, a short ceremony was also held to honor former CHS Football Hall of Fame athletes. The former football players were all previously inducted at the CHS Hall of Fame Kickoff Dinner before the season began back in August.
