Carson City School District employees and administrators participated in the Nevada Association for Positive Behavior Support (NVAPBS) annual conference at the University of Nevada, Reno, Feb. 12, 2024. As part of the conference, the district celebrated the recognition of the Platinum Award for Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSSS) Implementation for Fritsch Elementary School during an Awards Ceremony Luncheon.
The Platinum Award is the highest honor a Tier 1 or Tier 2 MTSS school can receive in recognition for its efforts to create supportive and inclusive learning environments. This recognition, awarded by the Nevada Association of Positive Behavior Support Network (a panel of statewide MTSS experts), reflects the school's outstanding commitment to ensuring the success and well-being of every student.
NVPAS is a professional organization and official chapter of the Association for Positive Behavior Supports (APBS). The mission of the NV APBS Network is to extend the awareness of Positive Behavior Support in Nevada, with the ultimate purpose being to enhance the quality of life of Nevadans through direct, evidence-based instruction, consultation and systematic change.
Additionally, all 10 Carson City School District schools and district office personnel engaged in professional learning focused on strengthening our commitment to MTSSS and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework through keynote speakers, breakout sessions and a workshop focused on classroom tools and strategies.
The criteria for Platinum Award level are as followed:
- Expectation Matrix for School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SW-PBIS) with Lesson Plans
- Acknowledgment System
- Discipline Flowchart
- Big 5 Data Report
- Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI) at 70% or higher
- Data Narrative
- Letter of Recommendation from Carson City School District
Fritsch Elementary has consistently demonstrated excellence in its MTSS implementation, and this Platinum Award underscores the dedication and hard work of the school's administrators, teachers and staff in meeting the diverse needs of its student population. Through the school's robust MTSS program, students have access to a range of interventions and supports tailored to their individual requirements, promoting academic achievement and personal growth.
